Crystal Turner-Brightman is a freelance actress, poet, director, writer, vlogger, model, activist, singer and solo performer. She is currently represented by AB Castings and Management and training at the University of Chichester. She is a theatre maker that creates thought provoking theatre, that challenges boundaries and educates its audience, whilst simultaneously enthusing spoken word into performance. Crystal’s work has an emphasis on mental health, sexuality, gender, body image, and the environment. Previous work includes ‘Inside A Mind’, a story of a young girl coming to terms with the impacts of trauma. Crystal has performed in both a professional and amateur context playing roles such as Alice in ‘Alice In Wonderland’, the Wicked Witch in ‘The Wiz’, and Mary Sunshine in ‘Chicago.’ She has performed at multiple poetry events including ‘All In The Mind Festival’, with her set ‘Lets Talk About It’ and ‘DIY Southampton’ performing a poetry set on the theme of love. She is also an experienced teacher, having previously worked at Theatretrain Southampton as the Minis teacher. In the role Crystal organised and wrote productions for her students to perform, as well as planning weekly lessons for the children in the performing and creative arts. As an activist Crystal is a feminist, environmentalist, LGBT+, black lives matter, mental health, and body image activist. She has supported a range of charity’s such as Children’s Burns Trust, Southampton Stand Up To Racism, Stars Appeal B.U.G.S (Burns Unit Group Support), and Fixers UK. Crystal has personally been affected by PTSD after an accident left her with third degree burns. She is now a proud burns survivor and has spoken candidly about her experience. She is currently an Ambassador for Children’s Burns Trust.
